Connection and innocense

Isn’t it amazing how our little ones make friends.

We weren’t at the movies for more than 5 minutes before these two just started talking.

It was so natural and casual.

“Hey what’s your name?”

“Hey, I’m here with my grandma”.

“Come with me and check this out”.

“Hey, do you want to be my friend?”

Simplicity through the eyes of innocence. There is truly a lesson in this. I mean look at the excitement in Sam’s face. He only just literally met this little person.

These two little genius’ wanted to connect. Don’t know each other, first time they met, but wanted to connect nonetheless. So they did it. Simple isn’t it.

As adults are we any different, really?

We want to connect with people, our children, our loved ones, our friends, our colleagues.

Maybe if we allowed ourselves to just focus on the desire to connect, the feeling of connection, it would be as simple as these two boys.

Yet, we may have that initial feeling or yearning to connect but then we self-sabotage it.

We procrastinate and tell ourselves ‘Yeah ill try it tomorrow’ or ‘ill do it next time I promise.’

Or

We instantly judge – ourselves, others, the possibilities of what could/should happen.

We can learn from these little genius’, their simplistic and innocent ways. Imagine what amazing connections we could create for ourselves!
